Kung Fusion Courses
Foundation Course Root Chakra, Red Belt/Level
1. Shiva the Master of Time and Space.
In this session we focus upon the foundations of your Kung Fu. This is a firmly embedded in the fabric of time, space and intention; we must be in the right, at the right time, doing the right thing. Controlling our space is essential to our practice, identifying threats, choosing how close we allow the threat to come and what we do about it. Once we have identified the space, taking a stance and how to move fluidly from posture to posture are then considered. Threaded through this practice will be a series of counters, releases and breakaway techniques relating to a variety of perceived threats.
2. Welcoming the Warrior.
This session builds directly upon the concepts covered earlier, the principles remain the same. Horse stance will be investigated and how a variety of strikes and movements can be achieved from the position, linking a sequence of stretching that creates flow and strength. To counter the warriors attacks we will further explore the techniques used to block and evade these actions.
3. Greeting the Sage.
A seated stretching routine incorporating legs, forward folds, back bends and twists. These techniques will help guide us through the principles of nonviolence, our emotions will be explored and the possible outcomes for our choices. Kicks, their relation ship to movement and how to counter them.
4. Spiralling into Control.
We intensify our warm up adding more control and challenge to the balance, the use of multiple attacks is explored, methods to incorporate grapples, hand strikes, kicks and footwork. Response are simple and accurate.
5. Announcing Your Truth.
We introduce the staff and cosh as training tools, honing our reflexes and flexibility. In this session weapons are introduced, how the system deals with a variety of armed attacks. This session will embed our movement firmly into our defence against a variety of non-bladed assaults.
6. The Warrior meets the Sage.
Now we challenge the system pushing ourselves to complete tasks with full intention. This stage involves two key stages of the practice, not only must the system stand up against emotional challenges, perceived threats and violent acts, it must also be robust enough to deal with multiple attackers and bladed weapons. Depending upon the flow of the previous sessions the session can focus more closely to either topic.
Once these stages have been completed the satisfaction of both the student and the teacher (usually 12 – 18 sessions and a full day training course) the student is ready to enter the intermediate level.
